Insights and Business from Data is a project that strengthens companies’ innovation practices by developing and exploiting an innovation platform geared by data analytics and service design.

The goal of the program is to strengthen companies’ innovation practices by developing and exploiting an innovation platform geared by data analytics and service design. New services and business models will be innovated and best practices will be disseminated. The developed innovation platform will be customized and published for everyone’s use. The program consists of three work packages. In the work package ‘Aviapolis, services for travelers’ private data and open data is to be analyzed for insights, which will be turned into services in Helsinki-Vantaa airport and the Aviapolis area using service design hackathons. ‘Good long life for seniors’ is in search of factors to drive long life. Various research data sources will be analyzed for insights which will be turned into new services and business. MyData applications will be developed as well as healthy neighborhood in City of Oulu. The third work package ‘Insights and Business from Data Boot Camp’ will revitalize the strategy of ICT companies geared by analytics and service design. Analytics and service design will be taught and after the lecture section the companies will practice in real life a pilot project with their customer.
Metropolia’s tasks concentrate on the Aviapolis work package and we will arrange the 5 service design hackathons for the airport, the Aviapolis area and surrounding area companies plus start-ups. Hackathons take place in March – April 2017. Turbine Start-up Accelator will offer help to refine the best business ideas.
